Best Albums 2013 – #18-#17
#18 THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA 8:18
TDWP has been a favorite of mine for a while now. They are heavy, so if you aren’t into that kind of thing this album isn’t for you. This is a slightly newer side of TDWP. The vocals are more raw, the album is less post produced then their previous works (but still a lot of post production on certain songs), and it really works. I think this album best represents what TDWP is like live (I have seen them at least 5 times). I especially like their guitar tones on this record.
– Sailor’s Prayer
#17 DAFT PUNK – RANDOM ACCESS MEMORIES
If I am having a depressing day or just feeling like I need that extra kick, Daft Punk is my go to drug. Their music is full of energy. It has been at the center of many Douglas Family Dance Parties. I have never really been a huge fan of Daft Punk, but this album has me crossing way over that line. It is mostly dance/party music, but it doesn’t sacrifice any musical quality along the way. “Within” is a very emotional and lyrically intelligent song, one of my favorite songs of the year for sure.
– Lose Yourself To Dance
– Doin’ It Right
